Job Overview: Scheduling Lead will work at the Glenwood Springs location, as assigned by the Patient Access Director. The Scheduling Lead is responsible for training, daily review of work, providing feedback and department expectations of the scheduling functions to all scheduling staff. This role coordinates the training of scheduling staff in complete and accurate scheduling tasks and workflows. This includes reviewing to ensure the proper and accurate completion of required insurance benefits, obtaining complete and accurate demographic information, proper phone etiquette and patient interactions, and scheduling of services according to patient needs within AVH policies and procedures. They must be familiar and compliant with all insurance contracts, Medicare and Medicaid regulations as well as with our own AVH Compliance requirements, Policies, Rules and Regulations. The Scheduling Lead practices and trains scheduling staff in exceptional customer service and professionalism. They must act as the lead liaison between hospital departments, staff, Physician Offices and the patient to effectively coordinate scheduling of tests and procedures. They are responsible for the entire scheduling function to assure accurate and timely payer information and fiscal responsibility. They are responsible for communicating to the patient any issues that may affect their procedure not being covered, for any reason. The Scheduling Lead's daily responsibilities are directed by the Patient Access Director. Primary Scope of Responsibilities: * Trains staff in accurate scheduling using thorough interview technique to ensure that information is 100% complete and accurate. Ensures that all compliance requirements have been met, and the registration is properly created and/or updated for anticipated billing. * Distributes and reviews the work of all scheduling staff to ensure proper and accurate completion of required insurance benefits, demographic information, claim authorization and insurance submission information. They must be familiar and compliant with all insurance contracts, Medicare and Medicaid regulations as well as with our own AVH Compliance requirements, Policies, Rules and Regulations. The Scheduling Lead practices and trains staff in exceptional customer service and professionalism. * They must act as a liaison between Hospital departments, staff, Physician Offices and the patient to effectively coordinate scheduling of tests and procedures. They are responsible for the scheduling function to assure accurate and timely payer information and fiscal responsibility. They are responsible for communicating to the patient any issues that may affect their procedure not being covered, for any reason. * Trains, reviews and provides feedback and department expectation of staff work for 100% correct scheduling of patient services, verifying all patient insurance information, and insurance verifications, understand and complies with all Hospital, EMTALA, patient confidentiality, Advance Directives, ABN's and insurance waivers. * Trains, reviews, provides feedback and department expectation of staff work for 100% correct pre-admission data that includes review of type of account, correct procedure, duplications of registration of M#, subscriber errors, and correct patient demographics. * Ensures fiscal responsibility that includes reviewing and competing ABN's, insurance waivers, and ensuring completed scheduling as needed. They are responsible for communicating to the patient any issues that may affect their procedure not being covered, for any reason. * Participates in department training and staff meetings. Reads daily summary reports and emails to ensure they are aware of any upcoming changes. * Leads in recording pertinent documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and hospital policy. * Adheres to federal, state and hospital rules and regulations concerning HIPAA privacy and security. * Follows Hospital compliance plan and policies, including the Code of Conduct. * Participates in required training for compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, Patient Safety, TJC, etc.) Minimum Qualifications & Requirements: * High School graduate or GED preferred * 2-3 years of experience in related healthcare field preferred Benefits & Compensation: Hire-in rates of pay are based upon the relevance of years of experience, education and certifications.
