Manager- Recreation Specialist II Essential Job Functions:
Administrative Creates and Publishes User schedules for Aquatics,
Public Skating, climbing tower, Playhouse and makes sure to Update
All master schedules. Manages the Aspen Recreation Center website
content keeping activities, sports rosters and special
announcements up to date. Uploads schedules and content on the web
page, and mages the content page that becomes the newsletter for
monthly subscribers. Collects and does input of patron counts.
Assists Supervisors in the input of work schedules on the whenIwork
software program. Verify silver sneaker membership registration and
issue passes. Works on the customer complaint book and follows up
with customers in a timely manner. Assists in the long-term locker
rentals for the Aspen Recreation Center. Helps with inventory and
makes recommendation for retail sales and rental equipment. Assist
in the reporting of facility usage Guest Service Greets and assists
visitors. Receives, screens and dispatches telephone calls.
Provides positive customer service and information to all patrons.
Provides information to customers by telephone, e-mail, facsimile
and correspondence. Responsible for collecting and organizing
customer surveys and results. Efficiently provides information to
patrons regarding appropriate program content and registration
processes. This may include the Red Brick Recreation Center as well
as the Aspen Recreation Center. Recreation Operations and Cross
Training May be involved with the opening and closing of the
building. Cleaning and upkeep of facility as required. May be
required to provide Aspen Recreation Center lifeguard services.
Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by
preventing and responding to emergencies in and around the pool
areas and the proper operation of the pool equipment. May be
involved in additional cross training operational areas such as
climbing tower, batting cage, and ice services. Lead Worker
Responsible for/assists with hiring and training of all seasonal,
temporary and/or intermittent personnel. Delegates tasks to
personnel during shift as appropriate, insures adequate staffing,
and completion of tasks during shift as appropriate. Communicates
policies, procedures and job expectations. Provides training and
resolves problems as necessary. Safety Responsible for keeping
facility Emergency Action Plan in practice involving outside
agencies. Able to document and support recommendations for
improving safety procedures for public and staff. Keeps
documentation of training in safety arena for compliances with City
and State standards. Core Competencies Displays the following key

Effectively and efficiently provide satisfactory customer service
and possess ability to take necessary steps to assist customers
with their needs. Possess interpersonal skills including
understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation,
concern, and politeness to others and relates well to different
people from varied backgrounds and different situations. Able to
handle emergency situations requiring the proper American Red Cross
training, and following procedures established by the City of Aspen
Aquatic Emergency Action Plan. Knowledge and application of
relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure
safety of all. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Two
(2) years of recreation or other relevant experience, work
experience should include customer service. Technical Knowledge:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Email.
Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado driver's
license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date. Must
be 15 years old to comply with the American Red Cross Lifeguard
training prerequisite. Must possess current Red Cross training with
Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Certification for the professional
rescuer or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors Certification required.
