You will also be eligible to purchase discounted bus passes for transportation to and from work, discounted ski pass options, 457B, and a number of AVH hosted programs including cell phone discounts and computer software.AVH requires the initial series of COVID-19 vaccinations for all staff.Job OverviewA licensed and credentialed NP provides evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, consultation and follow up for ED patients with the collaboration of one or more physicians in the AVH Emergency Department. The NP provides age and specialty specific appropriate medical care at the level of training achieved and within accepted standards of practice.Performs patient and family assessment and problem identification, plans care accordingly, implements, and evaluates plan of care so that problems are resolved.Primary Scope of Responsibilities

  • Provides professional medical care for emergency department patients under the supervision of ER physician. Care includes: a professional introduction, timely triage, physical exam, compassionate care, complete and accurate documentation, diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury, order and interpret diagnostic tests, appropriate and timely reassessment, counsel on preventative health care, assist in or perform approved procedures, write prescriptions, provide appropriate discharge instructions including follow-up care.
  • Maintains competency in but not limited to suturing simple and complex lacerations,
  • Fracture reduction, bone dislocation management, management of expert consultations,
  • Coordination with transport agencies for IFT, pain management, airway management,
  • Splinting or casting team management, disease specific treatment.
  • Adheres reliably to all accepted patient safety standards. Including Management of PPE and appropriate isolation of potentially infectious patients.
  • Serves in advocacy role; encouraging active involvement of patient and family in their care. Prioritizes patient's situations and takes appropriate action in an efficient, effective manner.
  • Keeps patients informed regarding what to expect pre/during/post procedure Provides individualized patient and family education consistent with patient's learning style, readiness to learn and self-care needs.
  • Makes value-added resource decision for patient care with respect to supplies, equipment and acuity of care.
  • Maintains competency and demonstrates knowledge of equipment used in ER patient treatment.
  • Positively supports activities to maintain and improve quality of care and services. Monitors cultures and other diagnostic results requiring patient follow-up and provides appropriate follow up to the patient as needed.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning, participates in departmental education including required workshops. Takes initiative to identify educational needs both individually and for the department.
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of clinical indicators monitor for disease specific initiatives: Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis and others as indicated through medical staff and quality initiatives.
  • Records pertinent clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and hospital policy.
  • Adheres to federal, state and hospital rules and regulations concerning HIPAA privacy and security.
  • Follows Hospital Compliance plan and policies, including Code of Conduct.
  • Participates in required training for compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, patient safety, TJC and others as directed.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional decision making.
  • Develops professional goals and diversity of responsibilities within practice; consistent with hospital mission and goals. Demonstrates role awareness and seeks individualized/department specific continuing education that improves patient care or professional practice.
  • Active participant in quality improvement processes. Identifies need to seek out additional information when needed and apply relevant findings to practice.
  • Demonstrates purposeful service excellence through exceeding patient and co-worker expectations. Represents the department and hospital as a dedicated, courteous and responsive employee.Population Specific Criteria
    • Demonstrates the ability to assess and interact with customers of all ages, recognizing language and learning barriers, and technology challenges. Ensures developmentally and medically appropriate care for all patient populations and age groups.
    • Able to perform his/her duties during an emergency.Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
      • Master's degree in Nursing and graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
      • Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice or compact privileges under the multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact agreement
      • Nurse Practitioner Certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Nurse Practitioner Certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) is required for hire and must be maintained throughout employment
      • Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe all medications commonly prescribed in the course of practice.
      • Current BLS certification
      • Current ACLS certification
      • Current PALS certificationPreferred Qualifications & Requirements
        • ATLS certification
        • ER experience or similar practice in urgent or emergent care.CompensationRates of pay are based upon relevant years of experience, education and certifications. Our talent acquisition team will help you understand how your direct experience will be considered.
          • Pay Range: ---$59.88-$77.84 / hr
