4/6/2026 About the Position Job Title: Operating Room Nurse

Experience: Minimum 2 years of surgical experience License: Current
RN License Certifications: Current BLS, Current ACLS/PALS (to be
obtained within 6 months of hire) Must-Have: Associate's Degree
from an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
Description: Works with all members of the healthcare team to
provide optimal care to patients throughout their surgical
experience. Maintains a friendly, positive, and caring attitude
with all patients, physicians, and staff. Evaluates and completes
assessment of patient needs to provide supportive care before,
during, and after surgery. Maintains accurate and complete records.
Identifies actual and potential risks to patients and staff. Takes
action to minimize or eliminate risks and maximize safety in the
facility. Assists in patient education during all phases of the
patient's experience. Assures that the proper supplies,
instruments, and equipment are available for procedures. Assures
that equipment is functioning properly. Assists with inventory
control by accurate counting of supplies and time used. Takes an
active role on committees and quality studies within the
organization. Communicates pertinent information to co-workers.
Provides a safe environment for patients to prevent potential
injury. Investigates and intervenes in problem situations,
reporting appropriate information to supervisor and documenting the
same. Observes sterile techniques in preparing for and assisting
with surgical procedures. Maintains equipment and supplies,
including cleaning and disinfection of equipment. Operates and
troubleshoots specialized equipment and patient monitoring
equipment. Performs critical equipment checks. Is accountable for
the administration of drugs, IV procedures, and other therapeutic
and diagnostic measures in a safe and accurate manner. Ensures
informed signed consents are completed prior to the administration
of sedation. Provides guidance to other staff members assisting
with orientation. Seeks educational opportunities and accepts
responsibility for personal professional growth and development.
Participates in in-service opportunities and staff meetings.
Attends continuing education offerings to remain current with all
surgical specialties and relevant issues. Accepts direction from
supervisors or physicians and adheres to established routines.
Consults with appropriate supervisors or physicians as needed.
Refers situations beyond ability or function to the proper person.
Maintains patients' rights to privacy by not discussing privileged
information outside the work area or within hearing range of
visitors, families, or vendors. Functions within the legal limits
of nursing practice. Reports errors of commission or omission.
Participates in performance improvement programs. Assists in the
maintenance of emergency equipment and supplies. Remains prepared
and calm in emergency situations and institutes emergency
procedures immediately when such occasions arise. Knows the
location of the emergency call system, emergency supplies, and
equipment. Directs all nursing activities relating to the surgical
procedures performed in their assigned area. Supervises personnel
in their area of assignment. Labels specimen containers and
prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Requirements Required
