Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Respiratory Therapist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Location: Grand Junction, CO - 81501 Shift Timing: Days Shift: 3x12 Hours, 36 Hours per Week Duration: 13 Weeks Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system as prescribed by the physician. This role also serves as a resource to CRT staff and may participate in special clinical projects or assignments based on departmental needs. Roles and Responsibilities - Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol. - Obtain arterial blood gases and monitor patient responses to therapy. - Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on patient assessments and clinical interpretation. - Administer respiratory medications safely and in a timely manner, evaluating patient response and adjusting care according to protocol. - Monitor and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment to ensure optimal patient care. - Communicate patient status and treatment progress effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff. - Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory care, health promotion, and self-care techniques. - Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with departmental standards. - Monitor and manage respiratory therapy supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or malfunctions. - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs within the department. - Identify and report safety concerns and contribute ideas for improving patient satisfaction and care processes. - Serve as a mentor or resource to other respiratory care staff and promote professional development. - Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative patient care discussions. - Float to other departments as needed based on business requirements and competency level. - Perform additional duties as assigned.
