Job Description:

Facilitates effective team management activities for the Aspen Ambulance Service.# Has direct responsibility and authority for supervision and development of staff.# Provides leadership and acts as a resource for staff.# Assists with clinical problem solving, management of staffing, and prioritization of duties and expense management. Assists with other duties as assigned by the Ambulance District Director. #Assistance required with purchases #$500.00, payroll, grant writing, budget management.# Will maintain a scheduled shift of ambulance duty.# Fosters teamwork to ensure safe, quality services.# Promotes interdepartmental communication.# Fosters and promotes the mission and core values of the organization. CLINICAL PROCESS # PRACTICE SKILLS # Fully competent in primary role on unit; performs patient and family assessment and problem identification, plans care accordingly, implements and evaluates plan of care so that problems are resolved. # Adheres reliably to all accepted patient safety standards. # Identifies and promotes new learning around changing patient safety standards of practice. # Serves in advocacy role; encouraging active involvement of patient and family in their care. # Prioritizes patient#s situations and takes appropriate action in an efficient, effective manner. # Makes value-added resource decision for patient care with respect to supplies, equipment and acuity of care. # PATIENT TEACHING # Keeps patients informed regarding what to expect pre/during/post procedure######### # Provides individualized patient and family education consistent with patient#s learning style, readiness to learn and self care needs # Evaluated the effectiveness of patient learning # COMPLIANCE WITH RULES, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES # Records pertinent clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and hospital policy. # Adheres to federal, state and hospital rules and regulations concerning HIPAA privacy and security. # Follows Hospital compliance plan and policies, including the Code of Conduct. # Participates in required training for compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, Patient Safety, TJC, etc.) # PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT # INTEGRATION # Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional decision making. # Develops professional goals and diversity of responsibilities within practice; consistent with hospital mission and goals # Demonstrates role awareness and seeks individualized/department specific continuing education that improves patient care or professional practice. # Able to express values around patient/family centered care and assists others to achieve shared understanding. # Active participant in quality improvement processes. # Participates and contributes to unit meetings and activities. # Identifies need to seek out additional information when needed and apply relevant findings to practice # SERVICE EXCELLENCE # CUSTOMER SERVICE # Demonstrates purposeful service excellence through exceeding patient and co-worker expectations. # Represents the department and hospital as a dedicated, courteous and responsive employee. # VI #####UNIT SPECIFIC DUTIES # RESPONSIBILITIES Personnel management to include hiring, disciplinary actions with consult of Ambulance Director. # Audit of ambulance reports and charges.# Liaison with the AspenValleyHospitalbilling department for questions or concerns. # Ambulance, equipment and communication equipment management and maintenance. # Oversee supply and inventory control.# Daily and monthly checks and check-off sheets. # IT liaison for maintenance of computers, printers and pagers. # Staff scheduling both in-season and off-season. # Paramedic field work, as needed, given seasonal variations and availability of staff. # Back-up Medic for IFT#s, second out ambulance calls and fixed wing transfers. # Operational purchases #$500.00, staff C.E. expense request processing and assist with monthly review of Ambulance P#L for accuracy. # Assist with annual Patient Charge Rate Survey. # Special events coordinator. # Facility maintenance management, Annual ambulance licensing and inspections, controlled substance inventory and control, uniform purchase and inventory. # Controlled substance inventory and control. # Competency development and tracking for regulatory compliance.# TB testing and safety compliance of staff. # Assist with ICS and disaster drill training. # Policy # Procedure development and maintenance. # In-services, seminars, meetings may be required at the request of the Ambulance Director. # Services as facilitator for interdepartmental issues and with Air Transfer Services to assure optimal patient care. # Serves as administrative liaison between staff administrative/management personnel and physicians when the Director is not present. # POPULATION SPECIFIC CRITERIA Ensures developmentally and medically appropriate care for all patient populations and age groups. # CORE VALUES # Patient Centered:is passionate about patient care, creating positive impressions on a consistent basis and exceeding our patients# expectations. Experience with operating an emergency vehicle and a clean driving record required. Prior management / supervisor skills preferred # LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATIONS Current paramedic in the State of Colorado at the time of appointment. Valid Colorado Driver#s License.
