Radiologic Technologist I / Clinic Coordinator

Job Description:

This a half-time position (gaurantees at least 24 hours/week) and offers#FULL benefits. This is based out of the Basalt#After Hours#Clinic, so#(some)#evenings and weekends are required. Dual Role: Must do both Patient Registration # Rad Tech. Under general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, Director, OP Clinics and Director of Diagnostic Imaging, this position is responsible for providing Radiologic images of technical detail, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in producing quality exams and providing clerical services to the department. Registers outpatient clinic visits. Obtain insurance card and input information into Electronic Medical Records. Coordinates issues as appropriate. Answers phone and assists with the daily operations of the units/clinics. This function maintains confidentiality with patients, staff and guests. As a Registrar working in a clinic location, they are responsible for complete and accurate registrations, including the proper completion of required consent for treatment and payer compliance forms and the copying/scanning of patient insurance cards.#The Registrar practices exceptional customer service and professionalism, performs data entry as assigned.# Additionally, the Registrar will collect payments at time of service as instructed, and ensures accurate posting.# The Registrar#s daily responsibilities are directed by the Clinic Supervisor in cooperation with the Director, OP Clinics and Director of Diagnostic Imaging.# Monitors lobby activities and alerts the Clinic Supervisor, Physician, or Nursing Staff when triage is needed or when the lobby is full.# Responsible for reconciliation of petty cash and balancing at the end of the day.# Ensures the clinic is closed, locked and alarm set at the end of the day.# Responsible for scanning patient records to Medical records department on a daily basis.# Ensures that all parties have appropriate forms and makes copies as appropriate to ensure clinic flow.# CLINICAL PROCESS # PRACTICE SKILLS Adheres reliably to all accepted patient safety standards. Makes value-added resource decision for patient care with respect to supplies, equipment and acuity of care. Always ensures accurate documentation including completion of all required forms, sign, date, time and legibility of all documentation.# Scan all documents as needed/required. Delivers, documents and oversees patient care in accordance with AVH policy, procedure, protocol and TJC or CMS standard interpretation.# Demonstrates ability to prioritize all aspects of patient safety and National Patient Safety Goal requirements. Maintains complete clinical competence for all patient care delivered in the patient care setting and for all specific radiology technician modalities assigned.# Maintains appropriate education and certification requirements for role and radiology technician accountability Implements correct charging procedures and monitors daily for accurate charging in the department.# Participates in charge master changes, corrections, updates or additions. Participates in departmental and organizational education as requested/required.# Assists with new staff orientation and mentoring. Oversees the appropriate use and maintenance of Radiologic equipment, and assures appropriate function, patient safety, and troubleshooting needs. REGISTRAR DUTIES Obtain insurance and demographic information, completing and documenting ABNs as appropriate Performs accurate registration using thorough interview technique to ensure that information is 100% complete and accurate.# Ensures that all compliance requirements have been met, and the registration is properly created and/or updated for anticipated billing. Exercises the most desirable customer service demeanor and professionalism in all communication, duties and attire while interacting with patients, physicians, staff and visitors.# Is thoroughly versed in Hospital and applicable HIPAA regulations and is especially sensitive to, and mindful of, patient confidentiality in all scenarios.# Conforms to all regulations without exception. Performs cash collections at time of service, consistent with financial counseling procedures, the hospital#s Credit and Collection Policy and Guidelines and other financial directives.# Utilizes software for payment and receipt on all applicable encounters.# Handles money competently and securely, properly balances received payments and returned change, and balances and reconciles cash drawer daily. Serves as a receptionist for the Clinic waiting area. Communicates and coordinates information in a knowledgeable and courteous manner with staff, patients, and families.# Assists with keeping family members updated regarding patient#s procedure/visit. Answers telephone calls promptly and responds to requests and messages in a timely manner. Takes accurate messages, relays/forwards messages to appropriate personnel, and refers callers to appropriate personnel as needed.# .# Utilizes paging system as needed/directed. RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST DUTIES Know basic anatomy and positioning Demonstration of proper use procedures, performance of QA in proper sequence, use of digital/cassette exams, grid use, start of exam, proper protocol and transfer of images to PACS, lead shielding and locating proper supplies. Demonstration of proper use procedures, start of exam-cassette and use of flouro, transfer of info to PACS, set up of sterile tray, use of shielding, operation of flouro tower and locating supplies. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition; fully stocks area as needed. QA on equipment and imaging Good communication with physician and radiologist. PATIENT TEACHING Keeps patients informed regarding what to expect pre/during/post procedure######### Provides individualized patient and family education consistent with patient#s learning style, readiness to learn and self-care needs Evaluated the effectiveness of patient learning COMPLIANCE WITH RULES, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES Records pertinent clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and hospital policy. Adheres to federal, state and hospital rules and regulations concerning HIPAA privacy and security. Follows Hospital compliance plan and policies, including the Code of Conduct. Participates in required training for compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, Patient Safety, TJC, etc.) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT # INTEGRATION Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional decision making.
