Job Overview:

The Precertification & Scheduling Supervisor is responsible for on-site supervision and integrity of all Scheduling, Pre-Certification and Registration processes in all areas of Aspen Valley Hospital District. This may include, but is not limited to, multiple functions related to the entire patient encounter - staffing and coverage of multiple shifts, daily monitoring, review and reporting of specific Industry standard criteria, and complete accuracy of patient demographics. This position is aware of and ensures good practice with all Revenue Cycle Compliance criteria related to the positions being supervised. They manage and lead staff at a high level of customer service relations. This position works under the Revenue Cycle Director. This position works in cooperation with Language Translation Services as well as all AVH Departments in order to manage Patient Access processes that effect the entire Revenue Cycle, including but not limited to obtaining complete and accurate patient demographic, billing information (including ABN's and insurance authorizations, insurance waivers, Preauthorization's) providing streamlined customer service between Scheduling, Pre-certification, Registration, Billing and other hospital departments, and triaging/resolving on site patient complaints. This position supervises, including interviewing, hiring, coaching and disciplinary processes of the staff in Admissions at Aspen Valley Hospital.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Personnel Supervision - Oversees Department staffing, including recruitment, hiring, training, counseling, daily supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Fiscal Responsibility - Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for department spending and initiatives. Review budget with Revenue Cycle Director for department and ensure it complies with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives. Leads staff in Front End Collections in all areas.
  • Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance - Develop and implement all department policies and procedures.
  • Staff Development - Ensure staff members are aligned with department and organizational goals of providing exceptional customer service, obtaining complete and accurate data collection, acquiring and maintaining revenue cycle knowledge and point of service collections. Provide continued educational opportunities to support those goals.
  • Departmental Quality & Performance Improvement - Develop and implement strategies to continually improve quality and performance of the department as it relates to the mission and goals of the organization.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years minimum supervisory experience in a hospital setting and knowledge of Patient Access and Revenue Cycle processes, or Revenue Cycle Director approval.
  • Ability to concentrate and show attention to detail
  • Relatively high degree of analytical abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English


Education/Certification Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Degree in business or other related field preferred.
  • CHAA or CHAM certification preferred or acquired within one year of employment.

Pay range for new hires:

Minimum = $30.69/hr

Mid-Point = $39.93/hr
