Pay range for new hires: $40.91 - 65.44/hr

Night and weekend shift differentials up to $6.00/hr

Job Overview:

The Section Head performs various clinical laboratory tests according to established policies and procedures to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision or oversight of assigned laboratory section, and training of employees working in the section.

Primary Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the assigned section of the laboratory, including scheduling, inventory maintenance, testing, and reporting of results.
  • Ensure that laboratory tests are performed accurately and efficiently, and that results are reported in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all tests and procedures within assigned section.
  • Conduct and oversee quality control and quality assurance activities, including proficiency testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to laboratory staff, including training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory sections and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate patient care.
  • Participate in laboratory and hospital committees as assigned.
  • Remain up-to-date with the latest developments in laboratory medicine, and ensure that laboratory practices are consistent with best practices and industry standards.

    Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Medical Technology.
    • Current and unrestricted MT/CLS/MLS certification (ASCP), or equivalent.
    • Minimum five years of experience working in a clinical laboratory.
    • Minimum four years of experience working within this section of a clinical laboratory.
    • Experience with Vitros and EPIC.

      Preferred Qualifications:
